CAROLINA DREAMS INITIATIVE
STAMP ACADEMY MODEL
CAROLINA DREAMS INITIATIVE|
The CAROLINA DREAMS INITIATIVE is a proposed major statewide initiative focused around six areas of need critical to any hope of growing and sustaining the American Dream in our state. A series of initiatives using Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SIE) as the key drivers, based around these areas, will address real needs of North Carolinians. It has already gained the major interest of a number of academics and alumni affiliated with the University of North Carolina System, as well as, various prominent state leaders, businesses, organizations and institutions in the public and private sectors of the state.
The six areas of focus for the CAROLINA DREAMS INITIATIVE are:
Civil Discourse- past divides are bridged and citizens are able to talk and work across differences.
Public Engagement- more voices of the state, especially those that have been marginalized in the past, participate in creating solutions for the state.
Public Leadership- responsibility in developing opportunities for all citizens is vested with the community and state.
Environment- we practice sustainable development, integrating economic, social, and environmental considerations into planning and collective decision-making.
Education- all children are educated from birth through high school graduation and are prepared for citizenship, existing job opportunities and college while the education system is adequately funded.
Economic Development- North Carolina’s economy flourishes as the state’s economic base and industry provides decent jobs for working class people and previously displaced workers are trained for new job opportunities.
The goal is to position North Carolina as the leader in social innovative entrepreneurship creating a unique and defensible national and global identity.
